FUNKY STAFF

After a few trips to Italy, to the now well-known regions, the story of the FUNKY STAFF brand began in a purely "playful" way.

It started with T-shirts on "red hangers" that were sold through wholesalers in Germany as "cash & carry" goods.

This was followed by the first trade fair, which turned out to be a “turbo charger” for FUNKY STAFF.

Over 100 new customers were acquired at the Panorama Berlin trade fair. A success story began...

This was followed by the switch to the newly developed

"SHORT - TERM - SYSTEM"

Four collections per season were offered to retailers each season. Delivery took place a few weeks later.

The "LUG" at the "POINT OF SALE" of the specialist retailers went through the roof.

New customers were constantly added and FUNKY STAFF grew beyond the German borders.

Expansion has taken place into the following countries:

Celebrities & Testimonials

The well-known TV presenter "Frauke Ludowig" discovered a T-shirt in 2015. It had an artwork of the FUNKY STAFF logo.

Her "discovery" coincided with the time when both she and FUNKY STAFF were developing the INSTAGRAM platform as an important marketing tool.

A long-term collaboration ensued, which was profitable for both sides.

To this day, I maintain good contacts with celebrities and influencers who can be important for building a brand.

Pandemic

CORONA

When the world was hit by the CORONA virus, a difficult time began for our industry.

New forms of assistance for FUNKY STAFF customers were continually launched. There were social media seminars, aid campaigns and much more.

Customer orders that had already been confirmed were cancelled in favour of the dealers and when things suddenly started up again, goods were made available in no time at all.

Overall, FUNKY STAFF did above-average things for its customers during this historic period.

Task

The End of FUNKY STAFF

Over the course of the Corona years, the general conditions changed a lot and people were more concerned with the consequences of the pandemic than anything else. The "fight" in the area of procurement was particularly challenging. The high production quality achieved depended essentially on Chinese migrant workers. Before the Corona period, they lived 3 months in China and 3 months in Italy.

The Chinese government closed its borders at the beginning of the pandemic. The migrant workers could no longer commute and had to stay in Italy for several years. When the borders were reopened on Chinese New Year in 2023, all "migrant workers" traveled back to China and
stayed there forever.

The negative consequences became apparent, like the case of a Domino's chain. As a result, FUNKY STAFF's delivery rate fell to under 60% and the complaint rate rose to almost 20%.

This meant the bitter abandonment of the brand and a time began that I will never forget.
